Welcome
Imogen Singing was founded in 1987 by Laurie Gaffney and in 2007 Alisen McLeod took over as Director. Alisen has brought a new sense of enthusiasm and excitment to the organisation.
The school is named after the English composer, conductor and educator, Imogen Holst whose immense contribution to music has remained largely unheralded.
In the years since our foundation, we have been constantly surprised and delighted by the extent to which the history of Imogen Singing has reflected not only the interests, but also the values and principles which underpinned much of Holst's work.
Our school provides singing and theory of music classes for children aged 3.5 to 18 years. Since Imogen Singing was founded choristers have performed in various formations, including young adult groups, men's choruses, adult choirs and pop choirs.
The Imogen Children's Chorale is preparing for an expanded City Concert Series this year with 4 main concerts, each in a different venue, throughout 2008. Go to our 2008 page for the concert programme for this year.
Our students and choristers are drawn from the Brisbane City region in South East Queensland, Australia, and perform in various configurations throughout Australia, Europe and Japan.
